Be Safe If You Plan to Watch the Solar Eclipse

With the upcoming solar eclipse, safety concerns are on the rise. The National Weather Service at State College suggests accessing eclipse safety messages through the New York Weather Forecast office in Albany. While our region in Pennsylvania won’t experience totality, we’ll still see around 98.5% of totality, posing a risk similar to staring directly at the sun. It’s crucial to avoid looking at the eclipse without proper eye protection to prevent welder type flash blindness. The event is expected to start on April 8th at around 2 PM, with maximum coverage at approximately 3:15 PM. Despite concerns, there’s no anticipated impact on utilities or communications providers.
