Work Requirements Still Waived – Critics Argue It Just Extends Government Dependency

Pennsylvania’s waiver of work requirements for food stamp recipients will continue through August 31, 2025… despite calls from Republican lawmakers to reinstate the mandate for able-bodied adults without dependents to work at least 20 hours per week. The waiver affects nearly 200,000 of the 2 million Pennsylvanians on SNAP. Critics argue it simply extends government dependency and worsens the state’s labor shortage.
