Fatality Marks Summer Danger on Waterways

Tragedy struck on Pennsylvania waters on Saturday as one person has now been confirmed dead following a drowning incident in the Susquehanna River. Lock Haven Police say an 18-year-old male’s body was recovered from the river, while a 22-year-old male was airlifted to Geisinger in Danville in critical condition. The incident occurred near Lock Haven City Beach where emergency responders were alerted to two swimmers in distress just before 5pm on Saturday. Efforts to rescue the victims were immediately launched, with the 22-year-old rescued by a private boat. Unfortunately, the younger victim’s body was recovered two hours later. The victim was said to have been from Centre County, but authorities have withheld any names pending further investigation.
