The Juniata County Commissioners met on Tuesday, and proclaimed June 23rd to the 29th as Amateur Radio Week in honor of the Tuscarora Amateur Radio Association which has served the local community for over 100 years. Representatives of the association… Don Walters, Nancy Walters, and Andrew Baer… received the proclamation, highlighting their work in emergency services and community events. They announced participation in the American Radio Relay League’s Field Day on June 22nd and 23rd at Halderman Park in Thompsontown, showcasing emergency preparedness and radio communication skills. Everyone is invited to come on out and learn about obtaining an amateur radio license, and to witness the operations firsthand.
