State Penalizes Major Food Supplier

Hanover Foods, a major food production company, faces significant penalties from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration for exposing employees to hazardous chemicals at its Centre Hall plant. OSHA’s investigation resulted in 71 violations, including repeat offenses, serious violations, and others, amounting to $761,876 in penalties. These violations encompassed failures in hazardous materials training, equipment deficiencies, documentation lapses, and emergency planning inadequacies. This marks a continuation of OSHA’s enforcement actions against Hanover Foods, following similar citations at their Delaware facility in recent years. The company has 15 days to address the citations or contest them through OSHA’s processes.
