State Lawmakers Considering Paid Time Off Regulations

In Harrisburg, State Representative Mary Jo Daley of Montgomery County is set to introduce legislation aimed at curbing “Use it or Lose it” paid-time off policies. These policies restrict employees from carrying over or cashing out earned time off if not used within a specific timeframe. The proposed bill, which by the way is similar to laws in California, would classify earned vacation time as wages. It would mean employees would receive compensation even upon termination. Representative Daley claims it addresses challenges where supervisors deny leave or employers impose restrictions on vacation usage.
