Juniata County School Board Approves Preliminary Budget with 5% Tax Increase

The Juniata County School District Board of Directors approved a preliminary $49.77 million budget Thursday, including a five percent tax increase. The district still faces a $700,000 to $800,000 deficit due to rising charter school tuition costs and previous tax freezes. The budget includes an 81.592 mill real estate tax, a $5 per capita tax, a $10 occupation tax, and a one percent real estate transfer tax, all set to take effect July 1, pending final approval in June.
