Lewistown Borough Council held a public hearing Monday to start planning for this year’s Community Development Block Grant funds. Last year’s allotment was nearly $143,000, and officials expect about the same this time. Ideas on the table include new breathing gear for firefighters, fixing up Rec Park, and addressing blighted properties. Council also reviewed finances, talked about switching to a street sweeper lease to save money, replacing 100 aging parking meters, and cutting costs at the community pool concession stand. The next council meeting is May 19.
