The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services is urging SNAP recipients in western and central Pennsylvania to apply for replacement benefits if their food was spoiled during last week’s power outages caused by storms. Affected individuals can request replacement benefits through their local County Assistance Office by Friday, May 9. The state has also requested a federal extension for those impacted by the storm, given the extent of damage. The replacement process can be initiated in-person, by phone, or through the COMPASS app.
