PA Gas Tax 3rd Highest in the Nation

Pending legislation in Harrisburg… if passed… would place new labels on all gas pumps, showing the federal and state tax rates on gasoline and diesel fuel. Supporters of the bill argue that consumers have a right to know how much of their money is going to gas taxes with every gallon purchased. Currently, the total tax rate on gas here in Pennsylvania is a staggering 77 cents per gallon. It places Pennsylvania behind only California and Illinois for the highest gas taxes in the nation.
