A Centre County man has been sentenced to 18 months to four years for the 2024 rape and strangulation of a woman at a State College motel. 39 year old Robert Wason pleaded guilty to attempted strangulation, while five other charges, including rape, were dropped as part of a plea deal. Wason’s request to serve his sentence in county jail was denied. The woman, who met Wason through an online ad, escaped after he impersonated an officer, handcuffed her, and then tried to suffocate her.
