A new bill introduced by Democratic State Senator Lindsey Williams aims to address Pennsylvania’s public school staffing crisis. The proposed legislation would require schools to pay education support professionals a minimum of $20 per hour… a so-called “living wage” that he claims will help recruit and retain qualified staff. The bill also proposes reimbursement to districts to help cover the wage increases, which would begin in the 2025-26 school year. It does not however, say just where that extra money would come from.
