Couple Arrested on Animal Cruelty Charges

A Mount Union couple faces animal cruelty charges after their husky-shepherd mix was found with severe, untreated wounds. Authorities say William and Helen Burd attempted to surrender the dog, claiming it had an allergic reaction. However, responders noted open, infected wounds, including one exposing bone. The dog, found covered in filth, was taken to a clinic but had to be euthanized. Both William and Helen are now being held on $50,000 bail, with preliminary hearings set for April 2.
