Some Now Claim Penn State Left Money on the Table with Stadium Name Deal

The Penn State Board of Trustees voted Monday to name the field at Beaver Stadium “West Shore Home Field,” a decision that sparked protest from several trustees. Eight members, including former players and relatives of Joe Paterno, opposed the move, arguing it didn’t benefit the university financially and disrespected Paterno’s legacy. Trustee Anthony Lubrano, who previously proposed naming the field after Paterno, claimed such a decision could raise over $250 million for the athletic department, a figure he said was far higher than the $50 million projected from the current naming deal.
