Geisinger Ramps Up Security

Geisinger Health is adding a private police officer program to its security team, aiming to enhance safety for patients, staff, and visitors. This month, 10 new officers were sworn in, bringing the total to 13, who will soon begin patrolling Geisinger facilities. The officers, approved by the courts, have law enforcement experience and are equipped with both firearms and non-lethal options. While they’ll handle security on Geisinger properties, local and state police will still assist with criminal matters. The move follows a rise in violence at healthcare facilities and adds to recent security upgrades, including AI-powered cameras and K-9 units.
