A snowstorm over the weekend left most of our area with about three and a half inches of snow, and dangerously cold temperatures are expected for most of the rest of this week. The National Weather Service has issued an extreme cold watch through noon Wednesday, with wind chills as low as -25 degrees. The American Red Cross recommends wearing layers of warm clothing, safe use of heaters, and checking on vulnerable neighbors. Signs of frostbite by the way, include pain or numbness, while hypothermia can cause shivering and confusion. Both require immediate care. If you can do so, you should simply stay indoors and wait it out, or if necessary, visit public warming centers to stay safe.
