The Juniata County School District is moving forward with plans to hire an armed resource officer, following a state mandate. The school board approved a contract with Standing Stone Consulting, which will provide the officer, who is expected to be in place by March. The officer’s salary will be covered by a recent state safety grant. The officer will be present during school hours and at extracurricular events. In other business, the board recognized a $10,000 donation that was made to the district’s music department in memory of Kyler Keller.
