Central PA Businessman Pleads Guilty to 74 Felonies

The part-owner of a popular State College eatery has pleaded guilty to 74 felony counts of deceptive business practices. Joe Ford, who in addition to his ownership of Campus Steaks, also operated 1st Call Electric LLC, was accused of taking deposits from homeowners for home backup generators that were never installed. The total amount stolen exceeded $474,000. Ford faces the possibility of considerable time behind bars when he is sentenced, in large part due to some of the charges involving victims over 60 in multiple counties. His business is expected to remain operational as he awaits that sentencing, which is now set for April.
