Press Box Comes Crashing Down

Penn State’s $700 million renovation of Beaver Stadium began Saturday with the dramatic demolition of its aging press box. Fans braved snow and freezing temperatures to watch the structure collapse after a ceremonial countdown led by the Nittany Lion mascot. The press box, in use since 1960, had become outdated, with frozen pipes and no working bathrooms during late-season games. Demolition crews will clear debris over the next six weeks, with temporary facilities planned for the next several upcoming seasons. A new press box and stadium upgrades, including expanded concourses and improved facilities, are expected to be completed by 2027.
