Shining Light on Stalking

Centre Safe in Centre County is raising awareness about stalking during January, recognized nationally as Stalking Awareness Month. The organization handles roughly 40 stalking cases annually, and they point to the fact that stalking is a serious issue often overshadowed by domestic violence. Forms of stalking can range from physical following to using technology like GPS trackers. They urge taking threats seriously and stress the importance of reporting stalking incidents to law enforcement, as stalking is a crime. The group operates a 24-hour hotline for guidance and assistance. For immediate threats, they say call 911.
