Rotary Club Holds Annual Salute to Veterans

Veterans and their family members gathered Monday for the Lewistown Rotary Club’s annual “Take a Veteran to Lunch” event at the Reedsville Fire Company Banquet Hall. Attendees enjoyed a hearty meal of meatloaf and chicken while sharing stories and camaraderie. The highlight of the luncheon was a keynote speech by U.S. Army veteran Sergeant First Class Steve Mason, who served 20 years. Mason spoke about the sacrifices of military families, and reminded the audience that service affects spouses and children, not just the veterans themselves. The afternoon wrapped up with a patriotic performance by “Eight Sisters to the Bar,” who led everyone in a spirited rendition of “God Bless America.” Each veteran left with a commemorative blanket as a gesture of gratitude from the Rotary Club.
