The Juniata County Commissioner’s met earlier this week, and during the meeting, Penn State Extension officials highlighted the organization’s offerings to the community. Jeff Hackenberg, Client Relationship Manager, emphasized the history and mission of Penn State Extension, which began with the Morrill Act way back in 1862. The extension provides science-based education in five key areas, including youth development, animal systems, horticulture, agronomy, and community wellness. Hackenberg announced plans for future programs, including a successful “Make Your Own Pizza” event for children, where they harvested vegetables from a community garden.
