Game Commission Seeking Rabbit Information

The Pennsylvania Game Commission is calling on cottontail rabbit and snowshoe hare hunters to assist in wildlife management efforts this fall and winter. The agency seeks information about Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus 2 (RHDV2) and the distribution of snowshoe hares. Hunters are encouraged to report any sightings of multiple dead rabbits or hares by calling 1-833-PGC-WILD or using the Game Commission’s online Wildlife Health Survey tool. Additionally, the Game Commission invites hunters to join its snowshoe hare cooperator program to gather data on hare populations and coloration changes during winter. Interested participants can register by emailing their information to hares@pa.gov. By contributing, hunters can play a vital role in protecting Pennsylvania’s rabbit and hare populations.
