Local Help on the Way to Ravaged North Carolina

  • More aid is heading to storm ravaged North Carolina now, thanks to the generosity of people here in Central Pennsylvania. In Reedsville, six trailers filled with donations will leave today for North Carolina, thanks to the efforts of local business owners and community volunteers. Nancy and Todd Sulouff, owners of Sinister Mini Donuts, organized the collection after being moved by stories of devastation caused by Tropical Storm Helene. Initially aiming to fill one trailer, the couple quickly found themselves overwhelmed by community support, ultimately gathering enough supplies to fill six trailers. Donations include non-perishable household items, clothing, and pet supplies, and they are all headed to Black Mountain Presbyterian Church, which is assisting storm victims in North Carolina.
  • In a special vote, the Belleville Fire Company has decided to send its retired Rescue No. 24 truck to North Carolina to aid in the recovery from Tropical Storm Helene. Instead of selling the truck, the company will fill it with community-donated supplies, such as bottled water, paper towels, and small tools, to help those affected by the storm. The firehouse is accepting donations this week, with drop-offs welcome at the rear of the station if no members are present.
