A Port Royal man is behind bars after allegedly severing his roommate’s thumb during a confrontation. 57 year old Brian Beers faces charges including aggravated assault and harassment. Police were called to the scene where witnesses reported hearing the victim scream that his thumb had been cut off. Upon arrival, officers found Beers holding a machete in his bedroom doorway. The victim, who sought treatment at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital, says tensions escalated after he slammed a door. Beers remains in custody, unable to post bail which was set at $150,000. His preliminary hearing is set for next Thursday, October 10.
