Two former Penn State fraternity leaders, Brendan Young and Daniel Casey, were sentenced for their roles in the hazing death of Timothy Piazza. The now 28 and 27-year-old men were each handed sentences of two to four months in prison, followed by probation and community service. In 2017, Piazza, a sophomore, died after consuming large amounts of alcohol during a hazing event. The Pennsylvania legislature has since passed the Timothy Piazza Anti-Hazing Law, which enforces stricter penalties for hazing incidents that result in injury or death. That aw was inspired by Piazza’s tragic death.
