Juniata, Mifflin, Huntingdon, and Perry counties are teaming up to reduce landfill waste through the Tire Recycling Challenge. If you reside in any one of these four counties, you recycle old tires at the Juniata County Fairgrounds in Port Royal for a reduced fee. The initiative aims to repurpose the tires into products like rubber mulch and turf. Last year, two truckloads of tires were collected, and organizers hope to exceed that this year. The effort is supported by the counties and the Department of Environmental Protection, all in a bid to keep Pennsylvania beautiful.
