The Mifflin County Commissioners sent a rather unusual email to Sheetz yesterday afternoon. The email read in part as follows…
“As county commissioners, we are always concerned about the prices of goods and services in our community. We have spoken with a gas consultant in the field, and we have received detailed reports on fuel charges. Those figures demonstrate that a price drop should be considered to help the consumer in this battle.”
The email goes on to point out costs, taxes, and delivery fees among other line items involving fuel, and says that “based on today’s delivered to store figures” Sheetz is basically making too much money. The commissioners say their consultant has told them that 25 cents on the low end to 50 cents on the high end per gallon is the general range for profit per gallon at the pump. They say that because the figures for Lewistown and Burnham show a profit of .76 per gallon, they ask that Sheetz seriously consider making an adjustment in their charges. So far, we have not heard of any response from Sheetz.
