The Mifflin County School District is expanding its free meal program for the new school year to include five elementary schools, ensuring all students receive free breakfast and lunch. The program, known as the Community Eligibility Provision, is part of a federal initiative aimed at combating childhood hunger. The expansion means students at Lewistown, East Derry, Strodes Mills, and Indian Valley Elementary Schools will now benefit, regardless of family income. The district plans to review eligibility yearly, with hopes to extend the program even further in the future.
