Helipad Gets Passing Grade

The new temporary helipad at Thompsontown Volunteer Fire Co. has successfully passed its trial landing. It was just one week ago today when a Penn State Health Life Lion helicopter tested the 60-foot helipad, marked with a white “H” in a red square. The helipad is a joint project between the fire company and Thompsontown Borough, and it is seen as a crucial addition for quick emergency medical transport. Many showed up to watch the test landing from a safe distance. A permanent helipad is planned for the future, pending grant funding.
