PA Moves to Ban Cell Phones From Classrooms

Pennsylvania’s Senate has approved a bill encouraging school districts to ban student cellphone use during the school day. Passed by a 45-5 vote, the bill allows grants for districts to purchase locking bags for phones. The bill mandates exemptions for medical needs and requires districts to monitor changes in mental health, bullying, violence, and academics over two years. The bill now heads to the state House for consideration.
