The trial of Brandon R. Holbrook of Reedsville, accused of the murder of Joseph A. Shymanski, a Washington DC area photographer, has been delayed until September in Calvert County, Maryland Circuit Court. Holbrook faces charges in connection with the shooting of Shymanski outside his Huntingtown, Md., home in September 2023. Originally scheduled for May, the trial’s postponement follows a request by state attorneys due to ongoing forensic analysis. Holbrook’s defense had preferred the original date but now must wait until fall for proceedings. With the trial pushed back nearly a year after the slaying, forensic evidence and testimony from around 40 individuals are anticipated to play crucial roles in the legal proceedings.
