Lewistown Council Covers A Lot of Ground

In a groundbreaking move, the Lewistown Borough Council has given the green light for alcohol sales at the upcoming Sip and Shop event, scheduled for May 4th at Rec Park. This marks the first time alcohol will be available at the venue, enhancing the shopping experience for attendees. The event aims to utilize the park’s open areas and scenic walking trails. But that’s not all. The Council also grappled with the pressing issue of repairs needed for Digester #1, a critical component of the borough’s wastewater treatment infrastructure. The estimated repair costs range from $2 to $4 million, and the challenges include roof replacement decisions and handling a whopping 500,000 gallons of sludge. As reported in the Lewistown Sentinel, the project faces a 2-3 year timeline due to permitting and operational assessments, underscoring the difficulty of maintaining aging infrastructure.
