Disorderly Event at the Hospital Results in Arrest

In a bizarre turn of events, a 46-year-old man found himself in hot water after attempting to commandeer an emergency vehicle. Jeremy Lynn Brumbaugh of Lewistown, was apprehended by authorities on Sunday. Here’s what unfolded: At approximately 4:15 a.m., Mifflin County Regional Police responded to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital. Emergency responders were grappling with Brumbaugh, who had apparently set his sights on stealing an ambulance. Earlier that night, Brumbaugh had been taken to the hospital by ambulance due to anxiety related to an unknown substance. He claimed to have ingested a mysterious liquid from a Gatorade bottle. However, upon arrival at the hospital, he refused evaluation and treatment. Despite being instructed to leave the premises, Brumbaugh lingered in the waiting room. His attempts to access restricted areas prompted further warnings. Then, Brumbaugh bolted through the main sliding doors and made a beeline for an unattended FAME EMS ambulance parked just outside. He clung to the rear doors, desperate to gain entry to the patient care area. When questioned, Brumbaugh offered a perplexing explanation: “Emergency responders were supposed to take me back to the Mifflin County Shelter.” Brumbaugh’s behavior suggested he might be under the influence of a stimulant substance. He even claimed someone had “spiked” his chewing tobacco with something like methamphetamine. After receiving treatment for lacerations, Brumbaugh was arrested. He now faces charges of disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. He’s behind bars, with bail set at $1,000.
