Academy of Science and Technology Gets Boost

The Mifflin County School Board met on Thursday, and among the items covered was a detailed discussion of the finances for the Academy expansion project. Barry King, the director of the Academy of Science and Technology, explained that two of the newest programs that have been added to the existing 12 programs that were begun five years ago, are HVAC and diesel technology. The programs are offered to adults as well as high school students. After listening to the presentation, the Mifflin County School Board of Directors agreed to a resolution to pay $7.1 Million to finance on an interim basis, a capital project at the Academy of Science and Technology, which is owned and operated by the school district.
